Job Description
Junior Imaging Scientist
Are you ready to be part of a team that’s transforming healthcare?
We’re seeking a motivated Junior Imaging Scientist to join us during an exciting phase, as we transition our world-leading technology from R&D to manufacturing and bring our innovative products to market.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the analysis and enhancement of 3D X-ray imaging across a variety of applications, including orthopaedic, dental, veterinary, and non-destructive testing. You’ll collaborate with a talented group of scientists and engineers, developing a broad range of skills while driving advancements in imaging techniques. Your work will directly impact the quality of diagnostic imaging.
About Us
Medical imaging is essential for early and accurate diagnosis, but 2D X-rays provide limited insight into the complexity of the human body. While 3D imaging with CT scanners is possible, it comes with higher costs, greater radiation exposure, and challenges in moving critically ill patients.
Our mission is to make 3D imaging more accessible by developing mobile flat-panel X-ray systems that can be brought directly to patients, offering a low-cost, low-dose alternative to traditional imaging methods.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a science or engineering discipline, along with some experience in Python programming. You’ll need to be both analytical and enthusiastic, with the ability to conduct experiments independently and collaborate with the wider R&D team. Previous experience in image analysis or machine learning is a plus but not essential. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plan and execute experiments to showcase existing imaging capabilities
2. Analyze results to inform product development, including reviewing relevant literature
3. Work closely with the Imaging Scientist to design and carry out formal imaging tests during product development
4. Assist in developing new tomosynthesis X-ray imaging techniques for both medical and non-medical applications, while contributing to the generation of intellectual property
5. Support the broader team with imaging tasks and analysis
6. Engage with existing and prospective customers to understand their imaging needs and demonstrate our products, either onsite or at customer locations
7. Develop prototype image processing tools for R&D purposes
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Essential Skills and Experience
1. Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python or C++ preferred)
2. Familiarity with image processing tools and techniques
3. Strong data analysis skills, including image quality assessment
4. Experience in planning and executing experiments independently and as part of a team
5. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and scientific findings to both internal teams and external stakeholders
6. Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Desirable Skills and Experience
1. Experience building and training machine learning models
2. Knowledge of the physics of digital tomosynthesis and factors influencing image quality
3. Familiarity with image reconstruction techniques
