Campus Patrol Officer
We are looking for enthusiastic, positive, and reliable individuals to join our Campus Patrol team to contribute to the delivery of our highly customer centric Security Operations service.
The successful candidate will join one of four Security shifts and undertake a critical role in providing a safe and secure University environment in which to study, work and live. Our Campus Patrol Officers are key to keeping the whole university community safe and secure by preventing / reducing crime, anti-social behaviour and managing risks to people, buildings, and equipment 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. This will include administering first aid as required (Level 3 First Aid at Work training plus regularly fresher training will be provided).
You will work 12-hour shifts, with a rotating shift pattern of two day shifts (07.00 – 19.00), followed by two night shifts (19.00 – 07.00), followed by four day’s rest. This will include weekends, university closure days, and bank holidays.
The post is full-time, open-ended and available immediately.
Starting salary: £34,527.86 per annum
Breakdown
Basic Pay (spine point 13) = £24,700
Shift Allowance (17.5% of £23,700) = £4,305
Contracted Additional Hours = 5 @ £13,4802 plus 2 @ £20,2203 x 52.14 = £5,622.86

Functions And Responsibilities
Main Duties
* Keeping the University community safe and secure by dealing with and reporting problems, responding to calls for assistance and liaising with and / or supporting emergency services as required
* Providing a high visibility presence to reassure students, staff & visitors and deal with any inappropriate behaviour
* Supporting and assisting students in crisis by signposting them to professional support e.g. Student Support Services
* Displaying a positive, professional image and rapport:
o with students living in university residences and residents in the community to assist in maintaining harmonious living
o with staff and visitors to the University to assist in ensuring that their needs are met, and the best possible customer service provided
* Maintaining the security & integrity of CU buildings and their contents and where required challenge any unauthorised personnel
* Communicating with colleagues via radio and security app technology
* Operating body worn cameras as required to record events / incidents for use as evidence if required
* When working in the University’s central control room (which you will be doing on a rotational basis), monitoring CCTV and alarm recording systems and triggering the required response with colleagues out on patrol
* Assisting with traffic control as required (e.g. when students move into Halls of Residence at the beginning of each semester)
* Reporting and recording incidents, including fire and intruder alarm activations, escalating to your team leader as required
* Attending and resolving student lockouts in residences
* Dealing with instances of drugs and alcohol abuse bringing such cases to the attention of your team leader
* Undertaking ‘mobile patrol’ duties which will involve driving one of our patrol vehicles.
* Dealing with maintenance faults found within university buildings by reporting to our Estates Team or on-call contractors (out of hours) and if appropriate, take preventative action to reduce further damage and ensure the safety of our people.

Additional Information
General Duties
* Participating in Quality and Customer Care initiatives.
* Participating in essential training and identifying any personal training needs with team leader.

* Our Campus Patrol Teams work a rotating shift pattern which includes weekends and bank holidays (including Christmas Day and Boxing Day)) consisting of:
o 2 x 12-hour day shifts (07.00 – 19.00), followed by
o 2 x 12-hour night (19.00 – 07.00), followed by
o 4 x rest days.
