We are seeking a passionate and adaptable SEN Teacher for a full-time position at an exceptional school in Portsmouth.
This is an exciting opportunity for teachers from both mainstream and SEN backgrounds who have a keen interest in supporting autistic pupils to access education in both school and community settings. The ideal candidate will be flexible, empathetic, creative, resilient, and eager to develop their expertise as an SEN teacher.
Role:
The successful SEN Teacher will take on the full responsibilities of a class teacher, including planning, delivery, and assessment. You will design well-structured, engaging, and highly differentiated lessons, catering to the needs, interests, and motivations of each pupil.
You will teach a mixed KS3 class, all of whom have a diagnosis of autism and follow a semi-formal curriculum. The role is supported by a team of experienced and knowledgeable teaching assistants who are familiar with the pupils' routines and individual needs.

The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent overseas qualification
- Previous teaching experience, ideally within SEN settings
- Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum
- Understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies for autistic children
- A good understanding of how autistic pupils learn and develop
- The ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual pupil needs
- A proven ability to build safe, trusting, and effective relationships with students
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and procedures
- Experience implementing strategies for emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Proficiency in ICT, particularly in using technology to support learning
- A commitment to ongoing learning and development, with a keen interest in autism
