They design both permanent and temporary works for projects in all our locations and are a trusted source of expert advice for both Murphy colleagues and external customers.A day in the life of a Design Engineer (HV Cables)Develop specifications, conceptual/detailed designs, and reviews for HV/EHV cable systems while providing cost estimates and project/site support as needed.Deliver technical support on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.Prepare cable route layouts, bonding-line diagrams, and associated project drawings in line with UK standards and regulations.Author detailed technical specifications for power cables and accessorises, power cable routes, and tendering processes, along with technical and progress reports.Conduct advanced calculations, including cable sizing, rating calculations, thermomechanical force (TMF), electromagnetic force (EMF) analysis, and sheath-induced voltage assessments.Ensure project designs and documentation are complete, accurate, and construction ready.
