NRL’s client based in Redcar is looking to recruit a Senior C&I Designer. This role will be a 6 month contract inside IR35, and will be a hybrid working role.
About the role:
To act as and Controls & Instrument Designer on behalf of company in the delivery of Projects. To assess third party designs as being efficient and fit for purpose. To provide C+I design support to company Projects.
KEY COMPETENCIES
1. Extensive industry experience in electrical engineering, process control and instrumentation within an operating organisation, engineering contractor or vendor.
2. Experience of specifying new and/or upgraded electrical and control equipment.
3. Experience of C+I project implementation is a operating production facility, preferably in a chemical or petrochemical environment.
4. Experience in the design and design review of control schemes with respect to their suitability and safety.
5. Knowledge of field instrumentation including design characteristics and limitations.
6. Working knowledge of applicable design codes as they apply to the design and specification of electrical and control equipment for UK process industries and technically assess safety systems such as electrical protective devices, fail safe and back up strategies for control systems etc.
KEY DUTIES
7. To provide leadership, support guidance and assistance in all matters relating to electrical, control and instrumentation engineering design and operability.
8. Act as focal point for C+I engineering support for all DPS executed projects containing these disciplines.
9. Actively review and where appropriate challenge C+I designs provided by others for efficiency, safety, reliability, operability, accuracy and cost effectiveness.
10. Attend project review meetings and take an active role in ensuring that projects are being executed in accordance with designs.
11. Actively monitor and challenge any variations to C+I designs on projects being executed by third parties
12. Ensure that all plant modification procedures are complied with and that all relevant documentation is completed in accordance with company and client procedures.
13. Attend project review meetings and safety review meetings including HAZOP / HAZID.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
14. Initiate and review engineering design, in accordance with the requirements above
15. Prepare documents assessing technical risks associated with the project and the capability of the company to execute the contract efficiently and cost effectively.
16. To understand the Customer (internal and external), to be responsive to his needs, and appreciate the market in order to deliver complete Customer satisfaction.
17. Review and prepare the vendor technical documents, including contributions from other functions to produce a responsive and competitive proposal document.
18. Ensure compliance with the Company’s and Customer’s Business Management Process and Operating Procedures.
What you will need?
19. Minimum Qualifications
20. HNC / HND in Electrical or Control Engineering
21. Experience in preparation and review of designs and specifications for electrical and control equipment.
22. Experience in executing electrical and control aspects of projects undertaken in a chemical manufacturing environment.
