We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Class Teacher with SEN experience to join the specialist team.
About Us:
We are working on behalf of a well-established special school in Reading that caters to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), moderate to severe learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where each pupil receives personalized support to help them thrive and achieve their potential.
The Role:
As a Class Teacher, you will lead a small class, typically with fewer than ten pupils, ensuring that each child receives tailored support suited to their unique needs. You'll work alongside a team of dedicated support staff, most of whom work one-to-one with pupils, allowing for highly individualized learning and progress. This is an incredible opportunity to design creative, multi-sensory lessons and witness the direct impact of your teaching on each child's development.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and assess engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs and abilities.
Manage a small class, creating an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Collaborate closely with a team of support staff who provide one-to-one support for pupils.
Develop individual education plans (IEPs) and track progress against targets.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers, offering regular updates and guidance.
Foster a nurturing and supportive atmosphere where every pupil feels valued.
About You:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in teaching children with SEN.
Passionate about working in a special needs setting and committed to creating positive outcomes.
Strong knowledge of SEN strategies, particularly for pupils with ASD, MLD, or SLD.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and to adapt to the changing needs of pupils.
