Health and Safety Supervise and support the team to ensure compliance with safe systems of work, procedures, and statutory regulations. Ensure appropriate procedures & work instructions are in place & followed. Review, update and generate new departmental procedures as required. Identify health and safety training needs for team members and liaise with the Engineering Co-ordinator to address these needs. Carry out and ensure compliance with risk assessments for safety-critical activities. Report accidents and incidents, investigate root cause and take appropriate action to prevent recurrence. Actively support the safety inspection and housekeeping programme. Instigate and follow through on corrective/preventive actions. Quality Supervise and support the team to ensure compliance with company specifications and procedures. Support the Engineering Coordinator in quality improvement / problem solving meetings. Generate and communicate ideas / suggestions to improve the quality of products / maintenance service and drive continuous improvement. People Lead, motivate & develop the maintenance team members to drive performance improvement, achievement of company targets and ensure satisfactory standards of conduct, behaviour, and compliance with site rules. Support the Engineering Coordinator in communicating department/company/group information to the team. Assess & communicate targets / priorities and allocate shift resources in an appropriate manner in order to achieve defined daily / weekly / monthly targets. Give regular and timely informal coaching and performance feedback. Follow formal Capability Procedure if required. Give warnings (informal and 1st stage formal) and maintain associated diary notes to enable effective performance management of individuals. Support the Engineering Coordinator in the formal disciplinary/grievance process. Carry out return to work interviews. Attend sickness absence review meetings. Attend home visits with a representative from HR. Carry out lateness interviews. Authorise pass-outs and holiday requests. Support the Engineering Coordinator in giving factory tours and carrying out interviews on internal and external job applicants. Training Assess competence of team members. Review team skills and identify individual training and development needs. Request appropriate training through Engineering Coordinator. Support the maintenance of training records. Operations Hands on role working with the team to complete breakdowns and PPM schedules. PLC diagnosis, AC and DC drives maintenance, fault finding and modifications to improve systems. Monitor and communicate maintenance performance vs. plan on a daily/weekly basis and drive actions to resolve issues raised. Ensure completion of assigned tasks in a timely manner. Prepare and communicate daily Gemba sheets to the department on safety incidents, breakdowns, handovers, and performance of each shift. Contribute to the achievement of defined Measures of Performance (M.O.P's) e.g PPM schedule adherence, equipment availability. Support the Engineering Coordinator / Operational Support team by contributing to the weekly / daily planning cycle e.g reviewing progress on planned maintenance routines, breakdown response and plant improvements against plan, providing updates, forecasts and proposing changes to the weekly/daily plan if necessary. Maintain spare part stock by raising purchase requisitions as and when required using SAP Sourcing: Arrange the ordering of components, tool hire and services through SAP in accordance with company purchasing procedures. Ensure delivered stock is stored in the appropriate location and that faulty items are sent for repair or disposed of as appropriate. Support the Engineering Coordinator / Operational Support team in updating and maintaining engineering / maintenance records (paper and electronic format) in a timely manner, and proactively highlighting any spares requirements / stock shortfalls. Support the Shift Team Leader / Engineering Coordinator in daily / weekly meetings with other teams and departments. Acknowledge and address equipment requirements / problems raised by manufacturing colleagues in a timely manner. Support the Shift Team leader / Engineering Coordinator with the repair and maintenance of production tooling. Leading control of an area in the annual shutdown responsible for permits, contractors and internal teams. BTEC / HNC in Electrical discipline Level 3 NVQ or equivalent IOSH certificate in occupational safety and health Qualified First Aider Willingness to develop and obtain relevant qualifications (as above) if not already achieved. Good written and verbal communication skills. CMMS- SAP would be advantageous Computer literacy (MS Office). Problem solving / analytical skills e.g. root cause analysis, pareto. Apprentice training in electrical discipline Minimum of two years first line management experience in an industrial engineering / maintenance environment or demonstrable development potential. Working knowledge / understanding of industrial maintenance techniques, ISO, H&S, Environmental standards and legislative regulations and standards Demonstrated competence / understanding of site safety systems, including permit to work procedures & other company policies.
