Position: Mechanical Project Engineer
Location: Based in Cumbria, Bristol, or Hampshire - Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the role & the industry, you will be required to achieve UK SC Clearance
Role Overview: As the Mechanical Project Engineer, you will join the delivery team working on global projects. Your responsibilities include designing, procuring, and manufacturing solutions by collaborating closely with customers and suppliers. You will be involved in maturing designs and ordering long lead items, contributing to impactful projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading a small team of engineers from a technical perspective, delegating tasks, and reviewing technical documentation
2. Heading designs and manufacturing tactical and strategic solutions for new Ocean Interface systems
3. Managing design reviews and meetings with customers, focusing on both the big picture and detailed safety considerations
4. Serving as the primary contact with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders on engineering solutions
5. Innovating to streamline submarine delivery while maintaining cost, quality, and safety standards
6. Leading design tasks across a product lifecycle in production or prototype environments
7. Presenting design concepts, technical reports, and specifications to stakeholders
8. Interpreting design plans and working in hands-on mechanical roles
Qualifications:
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or ability to attain
* Experience in defence or related industries
