We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic individual to join our Consultant Geriatrician team based at Lymington Hospital.
This is an exciting time for the Trust as we are on a journey to bring together all NHS community and mental health services provided in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, including services provided by Solent NHS Trust, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, Isle of Wight NHS Trust, and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, that delivers Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Hampshire, in what we call project Fusion.
Main duties of the job
This is an ideal post for a geriatrician who enjoys being hands-on and working closely with colleagues in primary, secondary, and intermediate care. There are opportunities to get involved in admission prevention, virtual wards, proactive community services for older people living with frailty, advance care planning, and end-of-life care.
The environment within the hospital is ideal for older patients who need high-quality medical and nursing care but not intensive medical intervention or referral to more specialist services. A particular strength is end-of-life care.
About us
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is one of only a few trusts in the country that provides both mental and physical health and learning disability services that are available to individuals at every stage of life.
Our team of 6,500 staff works from over 300 sites, caring for people in hospital and in the community, helping them to recover and go on to lead full and productive lives.
We provide care and treatment for around 1.7 million people across both rural and urban areas of the South Coast, delivering services in the community (at home, in GP surgeries), hospitals, and forensic (secure) units.
Our aim is to work alongside the people we support and our health and care partners to constantly improve and deliver the best possible care.
We are keen to ensure that our workforce reflects the community it serves, particularly in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability, LGBTQ+, and experience of mental illness.
It is not all about work, and our locations have good road and rail links to London. The national airports are within easy travelling distance, along with good ferry links to Europe.
