Salary: £53,869 to £57,070 per annum plus out of hours allowance (SM3)
Hours: 36.66 per week
Location: Spindles Shopping Centre, George Street Oldham OL1 1HD

Role Overview:
This is an opportunity to lead and shape the council’s Building Control service, you will drive forward improvements, deliver the councils adopted LABC Quality Management System and operating policies so that current regulatory requirements are met. You will meet expectations and address the changing needs and demands of the Building Safety Regulator and our communities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the Building Control service, provide advice and guidance following adopted policies and procedures in line with the required operating standard rules and codes of conduct.
* Help develop and implement effective methods of measurement, monitoring and evaluation of policies, programmes and services.
* Assist in the management and training of staff, ensure the highest standards and maintained registration with the building safety regulator.
* Manage wider service delivery including, Street Numbering, dealing with dangerous Structures, providing advice on Demolitions and assisting in the certification of regulated sports stadia.
Key Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:
* Registration with the Building Safety Regulator preferably at class 3, but minimum 2a-f, and class 4.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to support senior officers, confidence to challenge where appropriate based on evidence.
* A sound and comprehensive knowledge of Building regulations, Legislation and legal matters pertaining to Building Control.
* Ability to manage and participate in an out of hours dangerous structure call out rota.
