Community Dietetic Assistant

Band 3, £24,071 - £25,674 per annum pro rata

We are looking for an enthusiastic, team player with good communication skills to join our friendly community nutrition and dietetic team, this post will be based at Milton Keynes University Hospital and Windsor Intermediate Care Unit (WICU) in Bletchley.

You will be joining a team of 5 staff members who provide a dietetic service to patients at WICU and also to patients in their own homes and in care homes. The role is varied and will include speaking to patients, carers and other health care professionals to ensure patients' nutritional care is provided. We are ideally looking for someone who can drive and has access to a car for work use.
The community dietetic team is part of the wider Nutrition and Dietetic department, made up of over 30 registered dietitians, dietetic support workers and admin staff, covering acute, community, paediatric and learning disability services. We have excellent support staff and take students for clinical placements. This is a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking department and support a busy team to provide excellent patient care.
The job will include a mixture of administrative and clinical work, supporting the community dietetic team. Ability to drive is essential and access to a car for work use is also essential.
All training/knowledge required for this role will be carried out by your supervising dietitians in the induction period.

Clinical
• Monitoring the patient’s weight
• Checking feeds/supplements/meals are correct and, if not, taking appropriate action
• Changing supplements/food where necessary according to patient’s preference whilst taking clinical condition into consideration
• To communicate nutrition care plan to patients and/or patient’s families and other members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team
• To liaise with the catering provider for WICU on behalf of the dietitians
• To attend multidisciplinary team meetings on behalf of the dietitian.
Professional
• To take responsibility for checking the supply and availability of diet-sheets and other resources within the department.
• To take responsibility for updating information on the nutritional computer programme under guidance from the supervising dietitian.
• To take responsibility for sorting and updating product information.
• To participate in the staff appraisal scheme as an appraisee and be responsible for complying with agreed personal development programmes.
