As an English Tutor at YoungEducation Tutors, you will play a vital role in helping students excel in their English language & Literature skills. You will provide personalised instruction tailored to each student's unique learning needs and goals. With your guidance, students will enhance their reading and writing abilities, improve their grammar and vocabulary, and develop strong analytical thinking.
We are looking for a tutor who can create a supportive and engaging learning environment, fostering a love for English and instilling confidence in students. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the curriculum at KS3, GCSE, and/or A level and be able to adapt their teaching approach to cater to different learning styles.

You’ll provide in-person tuition to students of all abilities who have either disengaged with education or who are struggling to meet age-related academic expectations - opportunities to tutor are tailored with your availability in mind and can vary between 5-15 hours per week depending on the requirements of the learner. Your skill and expertise will play a leading role in improving the self-confidence and subject knowledge of your learners, ultimately re-engaging them with education and providing a positive learning outcome.
Learners referred to us may demonstrate complex learning requirements and challenging behaviours - distinct experience of working with children who present the following will be advantageous:
* Special educational needs (SEN) such as:
* Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
* Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
* Dyslexia
* Dyspraxia
* Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
* Childhood trauma
Tasks
Responsibilities
* Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions with students at KS3, GCSE, and/or A-level
* Assess students' learning needs and develop personalised lesson plans
* Provide guidance and support to students in improving their reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills
* Help students develop critical thinking and analytical skills through close reading and textual analysis
* Prepare students for examinations, including mock tests and practice papers
* Monitor students' progress and provide regular feedback to parents and guardians
* Collaborate with other tutors and academic staff to optimise student learning outcomes
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field
* Proven experience as an English tutor, preferably at KS3, GCSE, and/or A level
* Strong knowledge of the English curriculum at KS3, GCSE, and A level
* Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
* Ability to engage and motivate students of different abilities
* Patience and empathy when working with students who may require additional support
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles
* Must be able to travel to student and provide sessions at their home, school or other suitable location such as local library.

Pay Range: £30 - £50 per hour
