Tile House Surgery has a fantastic opportunity for a practice nurse, who will work as part of the primary healthcare team, providing personal medical services, in a holistic way, to the patients of the practice whilst upholding a very high standard of nursing care. If you are an experienced practice nurse or an experienced nurse from secondary care, with transferable skills and keen to undergo training and pursue an opportunity in primary care, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for the applicant to work Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. The hours per day are negotiable but with an ideal start time of 8am and finish at 7pm. The main responsibilities of the role include: Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests. Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients’ health and social care needs are met. General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long-term condition. Managing and treating long-term conditions, i n line with national and local policies and the practice needs. Reviewing medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice as well as national and practice protocols; working with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments. Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care. Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception, and cervical cytology consultations. Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad. Meeting the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care. Hypertension review and management. Running asthma, COPD and diabetes clinics and reviews. New patient and health checks. Please see full job description attached. About the Candidate You will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience: A relevant nursing degree. Current NMC registration with an active PIN. Competence to undertake asthma, COPD and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates or willingness to undergo training. Evidence of clinical skills and experience, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations, and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care, or willingness to undergo training. Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives, and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
