About the Role
We are seeking a Public Relations Executive, with a Bachelor’s Degree in either Public Relations, Media Relations, Communications, Journalism, English Language, Creative Writing or a similar relevant field to play a key role in the delivery and execution of a creative, robust, and integrated communications strategy with a specific focus on consumer PR. This role will help to promote our position as an industry-leading voice of authority across the pet care industry and within the veterinary profession. Having a PRCA Qualification or similar industry accreditation, is desirable, but not essential, as well as strong media relationships.
As part of the role, you will collaborate with a wide range of internal teams across the business from Communications, Marketing, Clinical, Commercial, Legal and Charity. In addition, you’ll also work alongside our External Communications agency, so you must have excellent all round communications skills - this includes written communication, and proof-reading.
Key Responsibilities – What you’ll be doing
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders to gather information and content, manage feedback and approvals of press releases, media statements, imagery, and product samples.
* Working closely with the Local Marketing team to deliver compelling communications of new pet care centres and veterinary practices, as well as refurbishments and relocations (Some travel may be required to launch events.)
* Working reactively based on the external media landscape.
* Working with the Commercial and Omnichannel teams plus third-party distribution business to arrange the delivery of product samples to journalists (both reactively and proactively) in a timely manner.
* Seeking advice and approvals from our Legal team, where required.
* Working with the wider Communications team on capturing sentiment on socials. In addition to ensuring consistent, seamless comms on other external platforms such as Pets at Home / Vets for Pets LinkedIn.
* Support the coordination of responses too media enquiries and interview requests.

* Evaluate the effectiveness and success of our communication strategies via monthly and quarterly updates.
* Manage purchase order admin using our SAP system. This will include raising PO’s, goods receipting plus resolving invoice queries which may involve liaising with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
* Supporting with drafting and circulating meeting agendas and diarising meetings.
* Update our intranet with latest news, blogs, and coverage.
* Working with our Investor Relations team to update our Investor website with latest news, blogs, and coverage.
About You – What we need you to be able to bring to the role.
* Good understanding of the UK media landscape including horizon scanning and strong media relationships preferable, with a desire to cultivate new media relationships.
* Demonstrable ability to establish quickly personal credibility, to develop, maintain and negotiate effective working relationships with groups and individuals with differing perspectives and agendas.
* Experience managing and working with or for external communication agencies.
Desirable
* Highly effective influencer.
* Great networking skills and experience in working with partners.
* Ability to work at pace, understanding the need to sometimes pivot or change direction at a late stage due to external factors.
* Creative thinker with a desire to try different approaches.
* Experience working for or with a large and complicated organisation, preferably retail or veterinary.
* Event planning experience preferred, not essential.
