The role of the Materials Specialist is to provide on-site purchasing and logistics support to the Base Maintenance Business Unit for the procurement of consumables, rotables, and expendables, ensuring on-time delivery of aircraft under the control of Exeter Aerospace. Responsibilities include providing daily reports to the Check leaders and customers on anticipated delivery dates, answering customer queries, entering orders via the Visaer system, and expediting duties to improve delivery times. Researching optimum supply sources for cost and delivery improvements is also essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Place orders for materials, parts, and rotables based on requests in Visaer or from the Check leaders.
2. Attend daily meetings to provide updated status as required by the Check leader.
3. Ensure purchasing activity supports aircraft turn time and advise the Check leader of possible issues.
4. Liaise with external customers to ensure all queries are cleared as a priority.
5. Ensure all rotable exchanges are sent back in line with exchange terms to avoid late penalties.
6. Enter correct information in the PO at the time of ordering/raising.
7. Expedite urgent requests by contacting vendors upon clearance from the Check leader.
8. Resolve order-related problems such as rejects, over deliveries, price queries, short shipments, and invoice mismatches.
9. Purchase optimum economic quantities to take advantage of minimum order values.
10. Eliminate unnecessary purchasing by reviewing previous usage and upcoming planned workload.
11. Maintain up-to-date status of orders on Visaer.
12. Ensure effective use of IT systems and maintain housekeeping.
13. Close off all POs to facilitate timely payment and invoicing following aircraft visits.
14. Be prepared to undertake other reasonably assigned duties by the Company.
