A Vacancy at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The Community Paediatric Department forms part of the Women’s & Children’s Division of the Trust, and provides a service to children from birth up to age 19. We have a team of Community Paediatricians and Specialist Nurses, supported by administrative and clinic support staff.
The department is based at Leighton Hospital in Crewe and at Wharton Clinic in Winsford, and we currently have a vacancy for a Clinic/Filing Assistant to work 28.75 hours per week Monday to Thursday. Working hours to be finalised with the successful applicant but the core hours of the department are 09:00 – 17:00.
Whilst based primarily at Wharton Clinic, the role requires the postholder to visit clinic and hospital premises throughout the area we cover. It is therefore essential that applicants have their own vehicle and a full current driving licence. You will also be required to pass a DBS check.
A key element of the role will be to assist Community Paediatricians in their assessments of children in various clinic premises throughout the South Cheshire and Vale Royal area. You will be required to weigh and measure children at the request of the Paediatrician. Training for this will be provided. You will also be required to act as chaperone to children and their siblings, including during Child Protection medicals as required.
Another aspect of the role is to provide an administrative service at the department’s bases. You will be required to open, sort, and distribute mail, including electronic mail, to file paperwork into hospital records, to obtain records from the Medical Records Library at Leighton Hospital, and to return them to the Library, using the Trust tracking system. You will be required to prepare clinical sessions, ensuring all necessary paperwork is available for the clinician. Other general admin duties will also be required.
Please be aware, some of the duties required of the role can be quite physically demanding.

At Mid Cheshire, our mission is to inspire hope and provide unparalleled care for the people and communities of Cheshire, helping them to enjoy life to the fullest.
Whilst formal qualifications are not necessary for this post, a good general standard of education is essential. This is an extremely busy department and applicants should be highly motivated and have the ability to work on their own initiative, but also be happy to work as part of a team. Working with children and their families is an integral part of the role and good communication skills are vital, as is a calm, sympathetic approach, and an understanding of the sensitivity of much of the role, which can on occasion be emotionally demanding.
