This post is offered on a full-time (10 PA) basis, although less than full-time applications will be considered. Duties will be based primarily on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site, although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites.
The main duties of the post will include:
1. Providing Haematology OPD clinics.
2. Supporting the chemotherapy day case units and in-patient ward.
3. Joining the trust intra-thecal chemotherapy register and helping deliver intra-thecal treatments.
4. Attending other hospital sites to support out-patient clinics and day case work, along with other duties as requested by senior colleagues.
5. Developing sub-specialty areas according to individual experience and interests, and taking an active research role.
6. Sharing responsibility with colleagues for the supervision and training of junior medical staff and supporting the laboratory haematology service.
7. Contributing to blood film and bone marrow review, supporting the BMS led anticoagulation dosing service and blood transfusion department.
8. Participating in weekly MDT, monthly transplant meetings/MDTs, and clinics with representation from the Leeds NHSBT and the Regional Transplant Director.
9. Contributing to regular Quality meetings and working with the dedicated haematology/transplant quality management team.
10. Participating in Urgent and Emergency Care duties, including out-of-hours on-call.
On-call duties are currently shared with 6 other colleagues on a {1:6} basis, currently assessed as 0.886 Category A. There will be 5% PA Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10 PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service, which may include formal teaching responsibilities or departmental leadership roles.
