Reporting to the Global Sourcing and Fulfilment Director, you will be responsible for managing and leading a team of commodity managers and buyers. You will be accountable for all Commodity activity across current products. As the Senior Commodity Manager for Dowty Propellers (A GE Aerospace company), you will conduct Make vs Buy exercises, develop sourcing category strategies and Business Cases based on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), select sources, negotiate, and manage supplier agreements of various types (LTAs and price agreements).
What will I be involved in?
* Analyse markets related to Dowty Propellers and GE Aerospace technologies.
* Assess and select suppliers as per category strategies, including supplier onboarding.
* Perform suppliers' capacity/capability and risk assessment for both incumbent and new suppliers for existing technologies and current products.
* Supplier ranking to develop and implement category strategies to meet program timing and cost targets.
* Responsible for procurement processes Strategy/RFI/RFQ/RFP and supplier performance looking at SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost).
* Challenge both suppliers and the organization to select the most optimal solution based on Total Cost of Ownership.
* Ensure sourcing process compliance, productivity, optimization, quality, and fulfilment.
* Manage Purchase Orders.
* Partner with Product Management, Quality and Sourcing NPI (European and or worldwide) on suppliers scouting.
* Establish a competitive and robust commercial position with new and existing suppliers on long-term supply agreements or project-specific supply contracts linked to GE Dowty technologies.
* Work closely with the delivery programs, business services, design, and production teams to enable the timely delivery of projects to clients.
* Support the business in proposals and tenders by developing a competitive and harmonized supply chain position as part of a competitive and commercially viable proposal and tender response.
* Be the first point of contact to facilitate communication across Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and Programs for existing and current products.
* Perform cost and price analysis, develop negotiation strategies, and lead negotiations to create value for money outcomes for procuring categories.
* Produce business cases/material presentations for senior leadership reviews.
* Work with suppliers and functional stakeholders to achieve collaborative partnering and strategic relationship management to deliver required service level KPIs.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent related experience (i.e. MCIPS (Level 6 or 7) / MBA / B.Eng / M.Eng / MSc or equivalent).
* Strategic and operational Procurement experience.
* Experienced negotiator with a proven track record of supply base management (strategy, sourcing, and cost).
* Strong influencing skills with experience of creating and maintaining networks across all levels of the business.
* Ability to develop and implement multi-system strategies to optimize cost, rationalize supply base, minimize risk and deliver increased value in technical attributes/performance.
* Proactive, well-organized, independent, dynamic and a team player.
* Excellent communication skills - able to tailor your communication to the audience across multiple platforms (i.e. Presentations, negotiations, written proposals, etc.).
* Ability/Experience to manage a team with a focus on policy and strategy implementation, along with operational plans with measurable contributions towards the achievement of results of the sub-function.
* Significant experience of direct procurement in a manufacturing/production-based environment, ideally within automotive or aerospace.
* Good understanding of the civil and military regulations pertaining to aircraft parts and aerospace materials.
