Are you highly motivated, hard working, and forward thinking? If so, come and visit us at Doncaster where we are building an exciting future within Radiology.
The successful candidates will be enthusiastic about the challenges of a busy working and constantly changing environment, and must have the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Rotating to the new state of the art Community Diagnostic Service based at Montagu Hospital, you will demonstrate excellence in patient care. This is a demanding role which will involve dealing with patients who are very ill or distressed; therefore, good interpersonal skills are essential. You will be expected to work flexibly, participating in an extended 7-day service and will be required to travel to all sites as required.
Working hours will be in line with the needs of the service, may be subject to change in the future, and will include nights, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays; therefore, a flexible approach is essential.
You should have GCSE English and Maths to grade C or equivalent, proven computer experience, and possess good interpersonal and organisational skills. Previous experience in a medical environment would be an advantage for this varied and interesting role.
Main duties of the job
1. To support the radiographers with both clinical and administrative tasks.
2. Working closely with qualified radiographers providing valuable support in managing patient throughput, avoiding delays, improving patient experience, and supporting the service by reducing the number of patient breaches.
3. To coordinate patient flow to and from CT.
4. To ensure all relevant information is available to radiologists and radiographers – e.g., check and note blood results accurately and manage CT requests according to departmental vetting SOPs.
5. Provide support to the radiographers for both physically manoeuvring patients for scanning and during the examination.
6. To prepare patients for scanning, including a brief explanation of the scan procedure, cannulation (where appropriate), also to assist patients when changing and with their personal needs.
7. To monitor incoming CT requests and ensure acute escalation of ‘urgent’ scans to the radiographer.
8. To manage workload, coordinating the flow of patients into and out of CT, ensuring adherence to both national and local pathways (i.e., Thrombolysis pathway, 2ww pathway, and ED breach times).
