Environmental & Quality Technician Working hours: Monday to Friday - 40 hours Location: Midlands ASAP Start What you will do The Environmental & Quality Technician will assist the Senior Environmental Engineer to manage the Environmental and Quality systems, implement and monitor the day to day requirements in 3 Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) to ensure compliance with the environmental, statutory, company and contractual standards. The Environmental & Quality Technician will support the ERF management team in meeting their obligations with respect to environmental monitoring and reporting as required by the Environmental Permitting Regulations and other legislation. The Environmental & Quality Technician will ensure monitoring and testing is planned and carried out in a timely manner to required standards and permit requirements. The Environmental & Quality Technician ensures reports are produced as required under the Environmental Permit and other regulations and liaise with and manage third-party contractors for the delivery of the environmental monitoring programme, liaising with ERF Operational staff to ensure that environmental compliance is maintained and issues resolved promptly. These are a summary of the main duties only; other duties may be required to be fulfilled to meet the changing nature of operational activities/business. Qualifications Essential Qualification in a Science/Engineering biased subject (environmental, chemistry, maths, engineering) Intermediate level IT skills with excellent spreadsheet abilities Desirable Knowledge of environmental permitting and Waste Incineration regulations Understanding of regulations covering industrial processes, emissions, Industrial Emissions Directive, Environmental Permitting and Waste Management Understanding of combustion Logical and analytical approach to problem solving Positive, flexible approach to duties with ability to use initiative, solve problems and to work to tight deadlines under pressure Attention to detail and ability to multitask Good interpersonal skills with persons at all levels Willingness to work flexible hours and tasks as required by the position Physically fit, capable of visiting various locations around the plant including multilevel stairs Where you will work Our ERFs utilise world-class technology to safely transform residual waste into energy for the National Grid.
