Main Area: Microbiology
Job Overview
Pathology provides a full microbiology, clinical biochemistry, immunology, haematology, blood transfusion, laboratory haemophilia, and cellular pathology service to the patients of EKUHFT, general practitioners, community healthcare and private hospitals in east Kent.
The appointee, together with consultant colleagues, will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and cost-effective clinical microbiology, virology and infection prevention and control service to EKHUFT and other users of the service.
This includes direct clinical care and proactive liaison in a timely manner with consultant colleagues, other hospital staff, medical microbiology colleagues, infectious disease and GUM physicians, and lead respiratory physicians for tuberculosis management.

Applicant Requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
* Full GMC Registration
* Minimum of 12 years medical work since obtaining a primary medical qualification, with at least six years in Medical Microbiology.
Desirable Criteria
* GMC registered as Trainer as Educational Supervisor or Undergraduate medical school teaching.
* Infection Prevention and Control course certification.
* Higher degree, e.g. FRCPath Part 1 or equivalent.
* FRCPath Part 2 in Medical Microbiology or equivalent qualification.
Skills And Experience
* Experience of working as a Clinical Microbiologist in NHS at Speciality Doctor level or above for at least 12 months in UK.
