Assistant Distillery Manager
A challenging opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Distillery Manager to join our client in the distilling industry.
The successful candidate will serve as the deputy to the Distillery Manager, ensuring that all critical management and compliance responsibilities are effectively supported in their absence.
To be successful in this role, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage stakeholders are essential.
We are seeking candidates who are either already operating at a similar level or experienced Operators ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise all distillery operations to ensure seamless execution
* Maintain strict quality standards and process parameters, monitoring safe systems of work and cleanliness & hygiene across the site
* Liaise with internal & external visitors and regulatory bodies to ensure effective communication
* Prepare and issue permits to work, write and review health & safety documentation, including risk assessments and SOPs
* Ensure site security meets Excise standards
* Maintain accurate distillery records and prepare reports, including monthly HMRC submissions
* Manage employee absence and staff cover to minimize disruptions
* Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives and drive them across teams
* Monitor losses, energy, and water usage, carrying out investigations and reporting
* Identify maintenance requirements across the site
Essential Skills:
* IBD/Distilling Qualification (preferred)
* Experience working within a Distilling environment
* Excel experience (preferred)
* SAP and DRAMS experience would be beneficial
* Experience working with Risk Assessments & Safe Working Practices, including H&S Legislation
* Compliance experience, including HMRC, HACCP, and Internal Auditing
* Strong continuous improvement experience
* Provide technical advice and technical control of distillery processes
