A day in the life of an RVN Team Member:
‘We start the day at different times dependent upon which shift we are working, usually between 8.30am and 10.30am. Each nurse is assigned a task at the beginning of the day, so everyone knows what they are doing, and this rotates daily. So, one day you might be admits, then ops nurse, another you will be consult nurse, another dispensary, etc. This means that we all get a chance to work in different areas and helps us to keep updated and current. We have all the usual kit including digital X-ray and laboratory equipment. All the nurses are very hands-on and regular CPD is encouraged. We work closely with the vets, including regularly triaging emergency cases, carrying out minor surgery, x-rays, and blood tests. A lot of practices just don’t utilize nurses’ skills, and this is where Vets 4 Pets Penzance stands out. You will use all your skills and develop in those areas that you need further training with. We all ‘muck in’ with cleaning and prep for the next day. We average 5 ops a day and we always have a full consult list of our own. It’s a busy practice with lots of support in a great location.’

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves, so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
