About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced facilities supervisor to join our team at Alderley Park. This is a full-time onsite position with an expectation to travel between our two Cheshire sites as and when required.
Working closely with the Cheshire Operations Manager, the Facilities Manager and Head of Site Operations, the Facilities Supervisor will play a key role in the efficient running of the laboratories and offices at our Alderley Park & Tytherington (Cheshire) sites.
Reporting to the Cheshire Operations Manager, the Cheshire Facilities Supervisor will oversee the successful delivery of facilities support, line manage the laboratory technicians and will also be involved in a number of additional activities to support the day-to-day running of the two Cheshire sites.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* Working with the lab technicians in providing day to day laboratory support. Ensuring the completion of the facilities core duties & tasks for efficient and safe working in the labs, including collection and distribution of deliveries, stock control, waste management, PAT testing, decontamination of equipment etc.
* Use of procurement, stock management and Facilities helpdesk ticketing IT systems.
* Line management and development of laboratory technicians at both the Alderley Park and Tytherington sites and working with them on their appraisals, training needs and development plans.
* Managing and hosting of external engineers, contractors and suppliers.
* Managing safe systems of work for the Cheshire sites – issue and manage Permit to Work, Point of Work Risk Assessments and evaluation of contractors’ Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Representation of Facilities at internal stakeholder meetings.
* Working closely with the site’s H&S and compliance teams to promote a safe and compliant working environment by identifying areas of improvement.
Candidate Requirements:
* Relevant industry experience in a facilities or operations role with specific responsibility for health, safety, and operations.
* A formal health and safety qualification is desirable.
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
* Experience of working within a laboratory environment.
* Self-starter, highly motivated and works without supervision.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well within a team.
* Confident communicating effectively with managers, colleagues, contractors, external parties, and employees.
* Flexibility to travel between sites as and when required.
