Works with the product concept group assisting with projects in all phases of product development from initial concept to launch throughout the co-op program.
Team Summary
The product concept group is responsible for the mechanical development of new customer-specific product developments as well as supporting the evaluation of new technical advancements of the product portfolio. They are responsible for developing concepts/designs and developing into specific applications according to the product portfolio roadmap. Works closely with Sales, Product Management, OEM advanced engineering, and the cross-functional engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with new product concepts and advancement of product portfolio, including 4WD, AWD, and Electrification product lines.
* Responsible for completing and driving benchmarking in North America.
* Assist with concepts for “Acquisition Projects” / Customer Request for Quotation responses.
* Help develop concepts according to product portfolio roadmap and analyze for feasibility.
* Participate in the research and analysis of opportunities for innovative products, stay informed of industry trends and company strategy.
* Support and adhere to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949).
* Maintain working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
* Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
* Understand what it takes to have demonstrated ability to deliver creative solutions within automotive applications.
* Experience working with a global team.
* Exposure to writing reports and completing projects from start to finish.
* Hands-on experience with competitive unit tear-downs.
* Hands-on experience with vehicle application calculations.
* Interpret and understand detailed product drawings.

Requirements and Qualifications
* Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
* Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
* Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design.
* Working knowledge in computer-based software, organizational/communication skills, ability to work with others in a team environment.
Office Environment; limited travel required.
While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
