As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will utilise your technical knowledge and professional experience as a key member of the Electrical design team within a global engineering group which is responsible for delivering a range of world class leading innovative engineering designs and solutions for Wireline Systems and Wellhead Pressure Control Equipment to satisfy customers. Acting under the guidance of the Principal Engineer, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer produces these solutions for hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical system designs using advanced CAE tools wherever appropriate in all phases of a project lifecycle from proposals to completion.
An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, attention to detail, ability to work effectively with other team members, a keen focus on delivery and the ability to turn fast paced, client-driven requirements into profitable solutions, along with a solid awareness of modern manufacturing technologies and practises are all critical to success in this role.
You will be focused on customers’ needs both internal and external and act as a focal point for technical matters on assigned projects. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop customised customer-centric solutions.
2. Carry out Electrical Engineering design, analysis, testing, and validation as required.
3. Plan and lead design projects with minimal supervision, ensuring all designs are efficient, cost-effective, and completed within budget.
4. Prepare, check, and approve engineering documents (drawings, technical illustrations, manuals, reports, in accordance with group policy.
5. Participate in sales contract reviews, internal design review meetings, and client meetings, prioritising customer care and commercial implications.
6. Prepare Technical Requisitions for third-party design review or verification and ensure deliverables meet client and contract requirements.
7. Develop and lead test programs and factory acceptance tests to validate designs.
8. Implement Engineering Change procedures thoroughly, investigating and resolving engineering queries in a timely manner.
9. Stay updated with industry developments to incorporate potential new concepts into designs and support other departments and business units as needed.
10. Travel for client meetings and provide site installation, commissioning, and testing support as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential:
11. Degree Level BEng (Hons) or equivalent in Electrical or related Engineering (., Electronic, Mechatronic)
12. Minimum 2:1 degree classification (proof of qualification required at interview)
13. Experience in a similar position
14. Understanding of engineering documents and drawings
15. Designing and troubleshooting electromechanical systems
16. Strong understanding of engineering documents, drawings, and ISO9001 standards
17. Working knowledge of Eplan or AutoCAD Electrical
18. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Desirable:
19. Leading Electrical design projects within multi-disciplinary teams
20. Knowledge of the Energy Industry, specifically Wireline Intervention and completion methods
21. Experience with Wireline winches, masts, and associated product designs
22. Proficiency in the design of Electrical systems
23. Experience preparing detailed technical files complying with European Regulations
