Description We are looking for a Reliability & Skills Development Engineer to join our engineering team at Stanford-Le-Hope. This role will oversee the development of the port's preventative maintenance strategy, working with Asset Managers and Engineering Planners to develop both planned and predictive maintenance (PM/PDM) actions, as well as inspections on all assets as needed, and producing regular reports and updates on what has been identified and addressed. This role will also build and deliver skill improvement programs for the engineering team, assessing their training and development requirements and creating manuals and in-person training sessions to help them succeed. About The Role How will you contribute: Develops, implements and carries-out PM/PDM inspections and routines. Leads Lean projects and supports other Lean activities within the organisation. Identifies opportunities for reliability improvements across Port assets Develops reliability improvement strategies and collaborates with engineering teams to realise projects Determines training and development needs and requirements of technical engineering team. Develops and produces KPI’s and reports to drive a reliability focussed mindset across the department. Present reliability strategies to the wider team and support an open, creative and collaborative reliability culture Develops understanding of key maintenance and troubleshooting practices and creates material, presentation, training videos, procedures etc for technical engineering team. Reviews existing training materials produced to determine appropriateness and relevance. Modifies or creates course materials and training manuals to meet specific training needs of new staff. Performs technical evaluations of events to determine the root causes of issues and provide technical solutions. Works with managers to address learning issues, instruction problems, or new training needs regarding specific employees. Continuously monitor the skill set of the technical team and develop material and delivers hands on training to enhance the skill set of the technical team. Run skills development programs to improve the quality and effectiveness of maintenance and troubleshooting. Modifies or creates course materials/manuals and delivers training on safety critical activities. Arranges specialised training with Third Parties where necessary. Assess the development of Apprentices on a regular basis and identify/convey their training needs to the Mobile equipment and Workshop Manager. Assist him to create/modify training material for the apprentices. Deliver training to the apprentices if required. What will you Bring. Qualifications, Skills & Experience: National Qualifications Framework – Level 3 or higher in electrical, mechanical or electronics Proven experience within a similar role Experience within a reliability or development engineer role. Lean/Six sigma experience or qualifications is beneficial. Hands on experience of maintenance/troubleshooting of container handling equipment would be preferred Computer literate with excellent writing and presentation skills.
