Position: RVN, Sundean Vet Group, Gloucestershire
We are looking for an experienced RVN to come and work in our shiny new building! We are nearing completion of a huge building project to expand our existing branch at Cinderford. The role would include a mixture of theatre care and consulting.
Rota Patterns That Work for You: Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that’s why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career. Ideally, we’re looking for someone to work full time covering 40 hours per week. Shifts will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9-7pm, Tuesday and Thursdays 2-7pm. Also, you’ll need to work 1 in 6 Saturday mornings at our Lydney site.
A Bit About Us: Our new building will boast separate dog and cat wards, a dental room and separate theatre and a separate lab. And of course, a brand-new office, large staff room for eating biscuits and air conditioning throughout! Before the building work, our recent equipment investments included new Bair Huggers at each site, and a new multiparameter. We are already well equipped with digital x-ray (including dental x-ray), ultrasound, in-house haematology and biochemistry, and we offer therapeutic laser (nurse-led). Once the dust settles from the building work, our next project is for Cat Friendly Status, as we are already passionate about a low stress experience at the practice for all species.
The team is well established, very supportive and friendly - we love first opinion veterinary practice, and we value the role every person has in the team. Day to day, you would be working alongside our experienced team consisting of: Senior Veterinary Nurse, two Veterinary Surgeons, our Student Veterinary Nurse apprentice and our receptionist team. All three of our sites work closely together so you would also have the full support of the wider team.
We are passionate about clinical development and staff involvement in decision making. We have full practice meetings every 2 months, in addition to clinical club meetings every 2 months, both of which take place during the working day. We welcome people bringing in fresh experiences and new ideas to help make our practice even better!
In each role, our team are encouraged to develop and pursue their interests. For example, our Veterinary Care Assistant is now our apprentice Student Vet Nurse and our RVNs are given opportunities to develop, such as in taking dental radiographs, performing dental scaling and wound suturing. Two of our vets are undergoing certificates, with several already holding them.
Whilst you will always be working with our experienced vets, there will be days where you would be the only RVN on site, so we need someone confident in all aspects of first opinion veterinary nursing. Unfortunately, this role is unlikely to suit a newly qualified RVN.
Because Our People Matter: We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will benefit from:
1. Work-life balance: 6.6 weeks annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays; Additional holiday entitlement for your birthday.
2. Wellbeing: Private Medical Insurance; Employee Assistance Programme: 24/7 confidential helpline; Enhanced family-friendly policies, including maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay; Initiatives focused on employee wellbeing.
