We have an exciting opportunity for a Service Lead – Policy, Performance and Delivery to join us!
Can you shape policy and strategy – using an evidence-based approach to identify emerging and future policy issues affecting the council, at both an exciting and challenging time for local government? This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working, and a salary of £59,961 to £65,471 per annum.

The Role
You will play a leadership role in the council’s Strategy, Policy and Performance team to support key council priorities, projects and services. With a focus on developing effective relationship across the organisation to drive policy and report on its performance, your role will involve:
* Supporting and strengthening effective planning, oversight and delivery of the council’s strategic and transformation agenda.
* Embedding effective performance management across the organisation - enabling effective governance and decision-making.
* Overseeing the development and delivery of the Council Plan and its underpinning strategies, working closely with colleagues across service areas to strengthen strategic and business planning.
* Supporting the development of new policy, programmes and services on identified high priority areas, including through data, insights and analysis.
* Monitoring government policy and initiatives impacting on local government to inform and enable appropriate strategic implications to be considered by the organisation.
* Play an active role in the directorate’s management team, contributing to the service’s direction and the successful achievement of the council’s vision and priorities.
What We Are Looking For
* With a relevant degree or equivalent experience, you’ll also have experience of working in a similar role, in a local government or public sector, in a corporate function.
* A proven track record of strategic planning, policy development and the implementation of performance management frameworks, along with the ability to advise senior management and elected members on strategy, policy and performance.
* Strong experience and understanding of the use of a wide range of data, including numerical and demographic data sets, and able to add value to that data through the correct analysis and interpretation for a variety of strategic planning purposes.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to manage time effectively, meet tight deadlines, and thrive under pressure.
* Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
* A good knowledge and understanding of issues facing local government and the wider public sector.
