What You’ll Do This team includes Project Engineering Consultants, Project Managers, Project Directors, and draws on experts from within other specialist teams at PSC. The role is broad and challenging, with huge opportunities to grow. You will be working on transmission and distribution projects ranging from feasibility studies, concept design, grid connecting substation technical support to Owners Engineering (OE) services across all the technologies we support – Solar, Wind, BESS, Substations, HVDC, and Cables in various locations – UK, Ireland, Europe, USA, Asia, Onshore and Offshore. Your deep technical knowledge in Substation Design, from concept to O&M means you can manage all project phases, including developing specifications, review designs, and reporting. You will have autonomy and accountability as well as guiding and mentoring other team members. You will take full responsibility for final work outcomes and deliverables. You will present results to clients, articulate complex material easily, and defend results with confidence. PSC and our clients will be relying on your extensive latitude for independent judgment and decision-making. You’ll be a key part of our growth journey, leading and negotiating proposal activities for clients (commercial and functional). You will develop global technical solutions & IP, and you’ll be someone who enjoys industry networking and thought leadership. We fully support and encourage you to contribute to publications, white papers and to participate in task forces and working committees (e.g., IEEE, CIGRE). Experience and skills: An undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. 10 years industry experience. Chartered Engineer or developing towards chartered status. Excellent knowledge in grid connections, renewable generation, transmission and/or distribution systems, including grid code compliance and TO, DNO requirements. Experience with Concept, FEED and Owner’s Engineering services, operation in a substation environment, including construction and O&M, negotiation with partners and sub-contractors. Project management experience including responsibility for managing significant projects in the transmission or distribution industry. Commercially driven mindset able to independently engage with new clients and manage relationship with existing clients. Experience defending scope and costs to senior stakeholders. Independent decision making & able to develop creative solutions to meet client needs. An appetite for mentoring and coaching – an interest in helping others to succeed. Strong emotional intelligence, the capacity to take risks, and the courage to lead.
