Health & Safety Advisor - Heysham
Reports to: Health & Safety Lead, Specialist Services
Location: Heysham 1 Power Station (occasional travel to other sites)
Role Overview
1. Provide health & safety advisory support across Heysham 1 projects.
2. Build strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance HSE performance.
3. Ensure compliance with safety policies and drive continuous improvement.
4. Full-time role with occasional travel to support other projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advise project teams on safety best practices and compliance.
2. Support health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) pre-qualification for bids.
3. Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
4. Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and recommend improvements.
5. Lead and contribute to HSE improvement projects.
6. Support subcontractor and supplier HSE performance.
7. Prepare reports, presentations, and safety data analysis.
Working Relationships
Internal: Collaborate with operations, project managers, engineers, and H&S advisors.
External: Interface with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and project teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
1. NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent).
2. Construction industry HSE training.
3. Minimum 3 years of HSEQ experience (preferably in a construction site environment).
Preferred:
1. MSc in H&S / Chartered MIOSH status.
2. Nuclear industry experience.
Skills & Competencies
