We are looking for a talented development editor with proven computer programming publishing experience to join our Birmingham editorial team. You’ll be working on high-value titles and tailored content for external clients, creating world-class material for a global market. You will be a confident writer and editor who is comfortable working with technical material, and has a good eye for information structure. This role will necessitate being comfortable with having high-level technical conversations with our external clients. Requirements The Lead Development Editor will work closely with external technology partners to develop expert-guided, first-to-market books on new and emerging technologies. You will also work on high-value 2nd and 3rd edition books, ensuring that proven titles remain of a consistent quality, and are further improved upon. Responsibilities • Pro-actively driving product improvements to obtain better commercial results for our authors. • Engaging in high-level technical discussions with external clients, accommodating their editorial requirements. • Researching previously-published titles and determining how best to improve upon them in future iterations. • Helping authors create engaging training material, analysing and incorporating appropriate peer- review feedback. • Meeting production deadlines, managing a title pipeline, and contributing towards product vision. • Building a deep understanding of our target audience, and a top-level knowledge of subject matter. Experience Range: 2 - 10 years Educational Qualifications: Any graduation, or Any PG Skills Required: Editing, Content Development, Candidate Attributes: • Excellent written English and editorial skills, with a keen eye for detail and clear content structure. • At least 2-3 years of experience working with computer science content. • A proven track record of working with external stakeholders and subject matter experts. • A demonstrable interest in technology and a willingness to learn about key concepts and topic areas. • Knowledge of a programming language would be of benefit.
