The role
We are looking for electricians to join our team. You do not have to be experienced in marine electronics, the skills we require are transferrable, so as long as you have City & Guilds 2365 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent), culminating in a Level 3.
The role involves running cables through the vessel, adding labels and completing terminations. You will perform quality checks on the installation work performed, and conduct electrical continuity testing. You will highlight any non-conformances identified during the fit-out to improve the quality of the vessel build.
SEA-KIT’s head office and manufacturing yard is based in Tollesbury, Essex. The role may involve some travel within the UK and potentially to international locations.
Responsibilities
1. Prepare and install electrical cabling and components into the USV, including power distribution, communication systems, sensors, actuators, propulsion systems and control systems.
2. Run cables through the USV, ensuring neatness of all cabling, and adequate length for final fixing.
3. Complete temporary or final termination of cables pulled.
4. Perform labelling of cables to IEC 60446 or BS 7671:2018 standards.
5. Conduct electrical continuity testing on connections/systems.
6. Quality checking of components received prior to installation.
7. Reading of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
8. Adherence to SEA-KIT HSE guidelines and use of PPE and correct equipment for the work being carried out.
Who we’re looking for
* You have the right to work in the UK.
* You have City & Guilds 2365 Parts 1 & 2 (or equivalent), culminating in a Level 3 Technical Certificate including the National Electrotechnical Training (NET) AM2 certificate.
* You hold an up to date City & Guilds 2382 - B.S. 7671 IET Wiring regulations certificate.
* City and Guilds 2391 inspection, testing and certification (or equivalent) is preferred.
* You have a track record in the electrical industry over a period of time. Marine electrical experience is preferred.
* Experience with multi-voltage DC and AC systems (<1,000V) is essential. Experience with LFP and NMC batteries is preferred.
* You are able to work independently, plan your own work and work well to timelines.
* You take personal responsibility for maintaining high HSE and quality standards, have good attention to detail and take pride in the quality of your work.
* You are a strong team player, and able to work well with and around others. You are able to follow instructions and work in a safe and productive manner.
* You are willing to travel as required and flexible to meet last minute demands.
* You hold a full UK driving license.
