Job overview: Technical Lead is responsible for ensuring operational excellence in service delivery across all supported SAP landscapes. This role will oversee and govern vendor teams and processes related to the SAP technical landscape, ensuring services are delivered in line with agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Key responsibilities include maintaining and improving service levels and availability across all SAP instances to meet or exceed business needs. The role involves close collaboration with colleagues across Application, Infrastructure and third party teams to ensure the effective operation and support of the SAP landscapes. The technical lead will provide deep technical expertise for issue escalation and conduct technical validations, deployments, and support activities. This role is based in Reading, UK at our BMI Group Head Office and reports to the Head of Technical Architecture. Key accountabilities: Accountable for the effective resolution of all incidents and service requests related to the SAP technical area, ensuring they meet service level targets. Govern, stabilise, and ensure the performance and availability of supported SAP systems across multiple time zones, supporting key business functions such as manufacturing, sales, distribution, invoicing, global operations, and more. Participate in crisis or critical incident situations, providing leadership and technical support. Coordinate with external technical suppliers and partners, including hosting and offshore teams, to ensure seamless service delivery. Liaise closely with second- and third-line support teams and architects to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment with technical strategies. Provide technical guidance and recommendations on SAP solutions and roadmaps as required. Ensure the stability of all supported SAP landscapes (from Development through to Production) by governing changes deployed to Production, with a focus on protecting the Production environment. Ensure all changes affecting SAP services undergo impact assessments to understand both planned and potential unplanned impacts, adhering to the change management process with appropriate technical and business approvals. Actively participate in BMI internal governance to oversee and approve changes impacting SAP services. Assist in defining SAP technical strategy, solutions, and roadmaps to meet business requirements and performance goals while aligning with the BMI IT strategy. Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of SAP technical and landscape configurations for both on-premise and cloud environments. Key stakeholders: Solution Owners Integrations Lead SAP Security Lead Head of IT Services Qualifications & Experiences Required: Extensive experience and a proven track record in SAP landscape management, including landscape refresh technologies and processes in a large, complex global IT organisation delivered by third-party suppliers. Experience and understanding of SAP solutions such as Business Objects, BW, cALM, BTP, CPI, IAS, etc Strong knowledge of IT service management and service control processes and methodologies, such as ITIL. Understanding of associated infrastructure and database management under SAP Rise offering. Personal Attributes Required: Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
