Aids and Adaptations Surveyor - Local Authority Location: SG17 5TQ Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 5 months Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00 (37 hours per week) Pay Rate: £317.86 per day PAYE We are seeking a dedicated Aids and Adaptations Surveyor to join a Local Authority who will manage the provision of aids and adaptations for council tenants with disabilities. In this role, you will play a key part in improving the quality of life for tenants by ensuring that properties are adapted to meet individual needs, working closely with occupational therapists, housing teams, and contractors to deliver high-quality adaptations. Key Responsibilities: Manage all referrals for aids and adaptations for council tenants with disabilities. Arrange and attend joint site visits with occupational therapists and community Occupational Therapists to assess the viability of properties for adaptations. Provide specialist advice on the suitability of council properties for proposed adaptations. Collate information for senior management to make informed decisions regarding major adaptations. Refer tenants to the Tenancy Sustainment Team for potential relocation to more suitable properties. Conduct assessments of void properties in collaboration with Housing and OT teams, providing guidance on adaptation viability. Prepare detailed specifications for minor and small-scale adaptations, such as wetrooms, ramped access, door widening, and wheelchair-accessible kitchens. Inspect and sign off adaptations during construction, ensuring compliance with council standards and OT specifications. Liaise with architects, OT's, and tenants for extension works related to property adaptations. Manage the Aids and Adaptations budget, ensuring accurate payment of contractor invoices, challenging errors, and reviewing pricing. Monitor contractor performance for adaptation works to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.Required Skills and Experience: Strong experience in managing property adaptations, particularly in a housing or local authority setting. Ability to assess properties and provide specialist advice regarding adaptation suitability. Excellent project management skills with a focus on budget management and contractor oversight. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with occupational therapists, architects, tenants, and contractors. Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement during the construction phase of adaptations.
