EMEA Sustainability Compliance & Controls Leader

With a focus on Sustainability/ESG requirements and risks, you will ensure compliance to the product, extended supply chain, ESG reporting legal/ regulatory requirements and controls within their assigned region of accountability. You will also assess and proactively manage environmental risks material the company’s categories – through both a financial and an impact lens – designing processes and controls, checking conformance, and managing crisis events as needed.
In this role, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
1. Collaborate with Sustainability, Legal, R&D and Marketing teams, works to ensure compliance with sustainability-related policies, laws, regulations, and relevant standards, with a focus on Kimberly-Clark’s products, materials and brands.
2. Stay abreast of relevant Sustainability policy and regulatory developments; develops and aligns appropriate processes and controls to ensure compliance and effectively manage sustainability-related risks. Communicates developments to key stakeholders and drives continuous improvement in processes/controls as needed.
3. Leverage IMF, capital planning/governance, claims review/validation and other business processes to verify compliance early in the innovation cycle and as part of project execution. Communicates and escalates concerns and recommendations to key stakeholders and leadership accordingly.
4. Devise and deploy management controls validation processes and activities against key compliance needs and risks; reports on gaps and drives corrective/preventative actions.
5. Partner with Sustainability and Enterprise Risk Management to apply sustainability risk and materiality assessments at the regional level in support of sustainability strategy/planning and to enable legally required ESG reporting requirements.
6. Recommend, support and monitor closure of compliance/conformance gaps. and provides status updates to key stakeholders.
7. Review, validate and approve all product-related sustainability claims within the region and drives process improvements accordingly.
8. Leverage digital systems/platforms to review and synthesize sustainability data/metrics; conduct trend analysis and recommend systemic improvements.
9. Build capabilities and capacity with key stakeholders throughout the region.

10. A Bachelor’s degree in science, sustainability, policy or related field specific to regulatory compliance or risk management.
11. Preferably at least 10 years of experience working in related roles requiring regulatory and/or risk management.
12. Ideally 3+ years of experience working in product sustainability or an adjacent field.
13. Extensive knowledge of applicable, pending, and evolving sustainability-related legal requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
14. Ability to effectively communicate complex legal or internal requirements to all levels, providing guidance to key stakeholders.
15. Ability to travel to support business needs, up to 25%.
