Following the recent appointment of our deputy Director of Midwifery at ESNEFT, we are looking to appoint to the final key member of our Senior Leadership Team. We have a fantastic opportunity for Quality, Safety and Governance Lead Midwife at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our families receive the best quality and compassionate care. You will report to and work in collaboration with the Director of Midwifery (DOM) and with support from the wider Divisional Management team, along with the Governance lead Consultant Obstetricians on each site, you will ensure effective maternity governance systems focused on patient safety.
You will provide oversight of the strategic and operational delivery of all aspects of quality assurance pertinent to the business of clinical governance in maternity, gynaecology, and paediatrics.
ESNEFT provides maternity services at Colchester, Ipswich, and Clacton hospitals. We offer a range of consultant and midwifery-led services at all of our sites and facilitate the births of approximately 7,000 babies a year.

Main duties of the job
1. Lead on monitoring standards of a range of clinical governance, clinical effectiveness, and patient safety activity, in liaison with other multidisciplinary professionals and functional heads within the Patient Safety Team.
2. Maintain strong working relationships with clinical colleagues and work with the Divisional Clinical Governance Leads and Divisional Management Team to deliver on the requirements of this post. Ensure the triangulation of information and intelligence from across the Department, the division, and the Trust, in order to provide leadership and direction in relation to Quality Governance, Effectiveness, and Quality Improvements.
3. Be an expert clinical midwife, to ensure credibility in undertaking and delivering their role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* NMC registered midwife (current)
* Masters level education or equivalent experience.
* Post registration qualification with relevant Master's degree or equivalent and or working towards that includes leadership in the areas of Quality Assurance, Governance, Audit, and Quality Improvement.
* Trained in Root Cause with ability to analyse aggregated management systems.
* PSIRF training undertaken or willingness to undertake.
* Recognised qualification in the field of quality assurance, compliance, and governance.
* Recognised Leadership/management qualification.
Experience
* Significant experience working in a senior maternity management role / level and working within a key leadership role, within a complex acute organisation.
* Expert midwifery clinical experience of working across all professional boundaries, can demonstrate credible midwifery knowledge.
* Experience of working with multi-professional staff groups.
* Experience of risk management processes, incident investigations, and shared learning.
* Evidence of ability to deliver training and provide governance advice to clinicians and other senior managers.
* Experience of drafting and developing policies and establishing compliance processes and procedures.
* Good strategic level knowledge of quality improvement methodology and risk management procedures.
* Understanding of clinical effectiveness and audit procedures.
* Extensive knowledge of patient safety, including human factors and serious incident methodology and management.
* Experience of working within Patient Safety and Incident Review Framework.
* Experience of implementing change in clinical practice system-wide.
* Experience of working in risk and governance role across a Women's and Children's Division.
