Head of Grid Connections - EPC
Remote, with occasional site travel
£80,000-110,000 dependent on experience + bonus & benefits
MDE are recruiting the UK management team for a global renewable EPC with the experience of delivering in excess of 10.5 GW of solar projects worldwide.
This organisation understands the need for organisation, structure, and digitalisation for ensuring their projects are delivered to the highest quality, on time, and within budget.
This individual will have an IDNO/ICP/DNO background and be able to own the grid connection process and develop a team around them. This opportunity represents a chance to be part of the founding UK team of a major international organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Critically evaluate and manage grid connection offers, ensuring risks, opportunities, and cost savings are addressed.
* Develop technical specifications, drawings, and tender documents for ICP subcontracts and substations.
* Supervise ICP designs to meet DNO requirements, ensuring compliance with connection offers and grid codes.
* Build strong relationships with DNOs, TSOs, and stakeholders to streamline project approvals and delivery.
* Maintain accurate records of grid status, ensuring project milestones align with grid connection requirements.
* Oversee the preparation of grid documentation and testing.
* Provide technical support across construction & commissioning project stages.
* Expand and manage a pool of trusted ICP subcontractors for UK projects.
* Lead interconnection strategies, optimising delivery for renewable and battery storage projects.
* Ensure all activities comply with company policies.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Extensive experience with grid connections for renewable energy projects and large-scale infrastructure.
* Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience in the power industry.
* Expertise in grid connection processes and contract negotiations.
* Proven ability to collaborate with internal and external teams to achieve project goals.
* Familiarity with safety protocols for utility-scale electrical generation projects.
* Valid UK driving licence, with 4+ years in a relevant, fast-paced role.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and independent work skills.
