Role Details
Job Title: Housekeeper
Reports to: The Registered Manager
Job Overview: In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such duties as may reasonably be required.
To organise and provide cleaning services within the service in accordance with agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations and in line with accepted best practices.
Location: The service premises, but you may be required to work from other locations at the discretion of the company and with appropriate notice.
Working Hours: 5 days over a 7-day period, as agreed with the manager.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Job
Role-specific Duties:
1. To provide leadership to the domestic cleaning and laundry functions of the service.
2. Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of cleaning implementation and delivery.
3. To supervise the cleaning and laundry services within the service in accordance with agreed standards.
4. Implement actions to meet and maintain cleaning standards.
5. Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise.
6. Evaluate standards of cleaning competence.
7. Ensure the service users’ rights are protected.
8. Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service.
Working with Others:
1. Develop effective working relationships with the other employees within the service.
2. Be involved in the implementation and maintenance of the service's quality assurance programme.
3. Cooperate with the implementation, evaluation, orientation and induction of all new employees.

Specific Requirement for Qualifications
Essential
Relevant vocational qualification in Cleaning and Support Services.
Specific Requirement for Skills
Essential
1. Proficient Written Skills.
Ensure accurate, legible cleaning schedules are kept and maintained.
Plan and initiate duty rotas for cleaning and laundry staff ensuring enough people with specific skills are on duty to meet the needs of the service.
Assist in the formulation and implementation of housekeeping policies and procedures.
Communication Skills
Good English - Written and verbal.
To communicate effectively with service users and their visitors.
Attend Heads of Department meeting to represent the cleaning and laundry staff and communicate contents of the meeting to the team.
Specific Requirement for Previous Experience
Essential
1. Previous experience of working in a similar environment.
Previous experience of working as a housekeeper or in a supervisory role.
Experience of working with service users who have additional support needs.
