Job summary INTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) EMPLOYEES The Head of Midwifery is a key position within the Perinatal Services and has a prime focus on the day-to-day operational delivery of high-quality standards of care across the inpatient and community services. The post holder will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to provide professional and clinical leadership support. The Head of Midwifery (HoM) will have a key role in supporting the Director of Midwifery and will develop key working relationships to support the delivery of national and regional requirements and recommendations which improve the safety and quality of perinatal care. The Head of Midwifery will support the clinical and professional leadership capability of midwifery and nursing across the service, taking an active lead in continuous improvement, promoting, and developing midwifery and nursing at the Trust. Act as a support to the Director of Midwifery, while leading on a specified portfolio agreed to enable continued development and deputise as necessary, representing the service at Collaborative, Trust and Regional Level. Main duties of the job Provide operational oversight of the Maternity service as a whole on all sites and in the Community areas, ensuring safety and quality delivery of services is delivered and maintained. Reporting to the Director of Midwifery any escalations to safety and governance relating to provision of care, workforce concerns and any ongoing issues that impact service delivery. Responsibility for the everyday running of the Maternity and Neonatal service. Oversight of risk and governance within the Maternity and Neonatal service and ensuring ongoing learning and improvements are constantly and consistently delivered.
