Salary: £24,782.92 - £27,249.00 actual annual salary
Hours: 40 hours a week – Term time only

Aurora Wilden View is a beautiful, purposeful school set in a 20 acre site with huge potential as we celebrate our one year anniversary since opening. We want to offer the best for our young people and this means enhancing our curriculum offer and ensuring our young people have access to a wide range of pathways to allow them to move to the next stage of their development.
The role:
The support services teams are an essential pillar in enabling the children and young adults to achieve their full potential.
As our Cook, your role will be to provide good quality food using fresh ingredients. You will be expected to take a dynamic approach to continually strive to improve the catering with new initiatives and menu ideas.
Key Duties
Duties to include (but not limited to) the following:
* Prepare, cook and present home cooked food from scratch using fresh ingredients where possible.
* Be responsible for the smooth running of the kitchen.
* Carry out risk assessments for kitchen tasks.
* Supervise and line manage the Kitchen Assistants.
* Prepare, cook and present specialist dietary and allergen meals as required.
* Liaise with suppliers, building good relationships.
* Undertake appropriate portion control.
* Monitor stock and quality control, ensuring the school remains within budget allocation.
* Plan menus and ensure stakeholders' needs are met including students and parents, ensuring we provide nutritionally balanced food within budget.
Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidate qualities:
* Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards for the catering environment.
* Understanding of learning disabilities and/or special needs as they impact upon the support services to be provided including management of individual needs (health, social etc.) and challenging behaviours.
* Awareness of key aspects of Health and Safety legislation.
* Excellent communication skills with a range of internal and external people, verbally and in writing.
* Knowledge of special diets and allergens.
* Management experience.
* Highly organised.
* A passion for creating healthy home cooked foods with experience of cooking with a wide range of ingredients.
