The Opportunity
Our client is looking for an experienced Electrical Installation Technician with experience of LV Equipment including; MCC, PLC, SCADA, Control Panels and Instrumentation. This will be working within the Utilities sector on Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTW).
The Role
As an Electrical Field Engineer, you will carry out various electrical installation works on Technology SBU projects. This is a site-based role, with the requirement to travel to clients' sites on a regular basis to suit the demands of the current work portfolio. The jobholder's home location will be one of the client's Technology's regional offices, where materials, paperwork, and main job briefings will take place.
Permanent - £37,500 - £42,500 Per Annum + Company Van
Dimensions
You will be supporting the site-based delivery on projects ranging in size from £5K to £5m, and duration ranging from a single day to multiple years. There may be an expectation to attend multiple sites in a single week.
Your Duties and Responsibilities will be:
1. Electrical installation of LV equipment including MCC's, local control panels, distribution boards & instrumentation.
2. Carry out electrical surveys of sites, establishing methods of installation and creating reports to detail findings.
3. Contribute to and/or create risk assessments and method statements for packages of work.
4. Guide and mentor apprentice or junior engineers, taking responsibility for their safety and standards of work when on site.
5. Manage multiple jobs at one time, being able to prioritise tasks accordingly.
6. Undertake the role of Competent Person in-line with Electrical Safety Rules.
7. Working alongside software engineers, ensure I/O is present and serviceable as required.
8. Report on progress to EICA Construction Manager to highlight any concerns, issues, and opportunities for further work.
The job holder must possess excellent organisational skills and the ability to often work under considerable time pressures.
You will have the following qualifications and experience:
1. Minimum 5 years electrical experience within a medium or large organisation.
2. Valid UK drivers' licence.
3. Good planning, organisational and time management skills.
4. Good interpersonal skills.
5. Excellent IT skills, including MS Word and MS Excel.
6. Ability to act on own initiative and work as part of a team.
7. Needs to have good communication skills at all levels.
8. Must be positive, approachable, willing, and helpful.
9. Must have a good understanding of electrical installations and control systems including, but not limited to, control panels/MCCs, PLC, SCADA, instrumentation.
The job holder shall have a willingness to undertake an annual performance 1 to 1 review, to attend and have an active participation in all internal and external training courses.
It's great if you also have the following:
1. NVQ level 3 in electrical installation or equivalent.
2. BS 7671 - Requirements for electrical installations.
3. Good basic education particularly in the English language and grammar.
4. ECS card.
5. Knowledge of CDM regulations 2015.
6. SSSTS (advantageous).
7. Knowledge of BS EN 61439 Power Switchgear and Control gear Assemblies (advantageous).
8. Knowledge of BS EN 60947 Low-voltage Switchgear and Control gear (advantageous).
