No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this. We are looking for people with excellent interpersonal skills to join our Safeguarding team.
Safeguarding is central to the work of St John Ambulance because it ensures that the diverse range of services we provide to children and adults at risk of harm are delivered safely. Safeguarding Team Members do this in a number of ways, including:
1. Monitoring the implementation of the safeguarding policy.
2. Responding to questions regarding safeguarding.
3. Providing guidance on safeguarding matters.
Learning is at the heart of St John Ambulance, and we offer a very large range of learning and developmental opportunities to our volunteers, including the full professional training that is essential for our Safeguarding Team Members:
1. Safeguarding Awareness
2. Safeguarding in Practice
3. Working safely with Children and Adults at Risk of Harm
This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act. Mandatory training for the role includes:
1. Safeguarding in Practice weekend within 12 months of joining and every three years thereafter (usually the first or second weekend in March).
2. Annual CPD event weekend (usually the last weekend of September).
3. Annual Regional Safeguarding Meeting event (held on a Saturday from 09.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs, timing and location change each year).
Weekend events are from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime. The location of the events changes each year.
