Job title: Maintenance Operative
Department: Maintenance
Based at: Ewood Park Stadium, Blackburn, BB2 4JF. You will be expected to attend Blackburn Rovers Senior Training Centre & Academy, Brockhall Village, Old Langho, BB6 8BA/BB6 8FA as and when required.
Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Hours of work: 40 hours per week plus matchdays (196 additional hours per football season), plus any additional hours necessary for the performance of duties.
Contractual Status: Permanent
Job purpose: To provide and maintain an effective maintenance service across all BRFC sites ensuring excellent upkeep and quality of stadium facilities.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all staff, customers and clients of the Club;
2. To install, maintain and de-commission plumbing appliances when required;
3. Attend to and repair leaks throughout the stadium and other BRFC sites;
4. Unblock pipework throughout the stadium and other sites when required;
5. Maintain and repair trip hazards, fencing, potholes, brickwork and signage across Ewood Park grounds;
6. Maintain and repair signage, tiles, fire seals, gates, doors and locks, advertisement boards and flooring inside the stadium;
7. Clean and replace filters;
8. Install, maintain and repair block paving;
9. Carry out paintwork and yellow lining around the stadium and other sites when required;
10. To complete pre and post-match day maintenance checks including toilets, gates and kiosks;
11. Carry out match day duties including general maintenance, litter and removing barriers and bollards when required;
12. To cover seating duties when required;
13. To assist with adverse weather duties such as removing snow and de-icing around the stadium;
14. To conduct ladder checks and dry riser checks when required;
15. Any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Operations Works Manager / Maintenance Supervisor from time to time.
Skills required:
1. The ability to work to strict deadlines;
2. Ability to work as an individual as well as part of a team;
3. Competent in using the tools and equipment required for the job;
4. Good organisation skills;
5. Safe use and inspection of ladders.
Knowledge required:
1. Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and reporting procedures;
2. Relevant knowledge of electrical requirements and regulations;
3. Good general knowledge of the stadiums logistics;
4. Good knowledge of all general maintenance duties and tasks including painting, joinery, plumbing, patch plaster and tiling.
Qualifications required:
1. Level 1 and 2 NVQ in general maintenance activities (equivalent or above);
2. Any other relevant maintenance qualifications.
