About the College
We are a large, regional college serving a population across York and North Yorkshire of more than one million people. Each year, we have approximately 4,000 school leavers, 1,000 apprentices, 2,000 adult students, and 400 higher-level students studying with us. Our wide range of education options span entry level programmes through to degrees, higher technical qualifications, and accredited professional courses to courses for professional development.
We are the largest provider of A-Level and vocational programmes for school leavers in the region; we offer nearly 35 A-Level subjects and over 80 vocational courses, including a wide range of T-Level pathways. We are proud to be part of a consortium of colleges and employers developing the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology (IoT), designed to increase higher level technical skills for employers.

What is a Business Administrator Apprenticeship?
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Administrator to join the Learning Support team at York College. You will work as part of the team to ensure our students get the support they need, by sending out invitations to review meetings and collating responses, uploading information to students’ records for teachers and support staff to read, and dealing with student enquiries. You will receive on-the-job training and ongoing support.
What’s the deal?
You will work 37 hours per week, during term time for 40 weeks per year, earning £8.20 per hour (£15,821 per annum). If you are successful in the role, following achievement of your full Level 3 apprenticeship you could be offered a permanent position at the end of your apprenticeship.
What will it look like?
You will work across the wider Learning Support Team, gaining experience of how learning support works in the college. You will develop your knowledge, skills and understanding of the different ways our students can be supported, for example in the classroom, by attending appointments with a mentor or a teacher, or by using assistive technology. You will learn our processes and how we use various ICT applications. This role will involve working alongside our Administrators and our EHCP Coordinator. Alongside your day-to-day role you will study for the Business Administrator Level 3. You will be given a full day a week to undertake this program of learning. This apprenticeship will take approximately 18 months to complete. During this time, you will be supported by a mentor and an assessor.
