We are looking for an individual who relishes a challenge within an already successful school (confirmed as 'Good' in our Ofsted inspection, September 2023), where the whole child, their successful learning and development are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking to appoint someone who shares our vision of a highly effective education for all children, regardless of any barriers they may have. We are looking to invest in someone who is passionate about continuing to develop their practice and career (including someone who is perhaps considering training as a teacher in the future), someone who has high expectations of themselves, as well as the children in their care.
The role of Learning Support Assistant at Cupernham Junior School
The team of learning support assistants at Cupernham Junior School is highly valued as an integral part of helping all our children achieve their very best. This role can lead to a training as a teacher within the school, through our local teaching school.
LSAs are allocated to particular year groups where they support the learning of children across the ability range both within lessons as well as through targeted interventions. Our LSAs work with all groups of children; this may include supporting the lower attaining children, but also working with the higher attaining children in order to provide challenge and further enrichment. This role will also include supporting children during playtimes and lunchtimes.
The successful candidates will:
* Have previous successful experience of working with children in a learning environment.
* Have high expectations for children's progress and attainment and understand the need to promote independence.
* Be able to work as part of a team with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.
* Have excellent communication skills, relating well to children, colleagues and parents.
* Have a calm, positive and kind approach.
* Be able to work independently and with initiative.
* Be resilient, flexible, organised and resourceful.
* Have an understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
As a school we offer:
* A highly positive learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities.
* The support of a welcoming, talented and hardworking staff team.
* A wide range of opportunities for personal and professional development.
