Adecco is delighted to be recruiting for our client based in Workington who are looking for a permanent Mechanical Fitter to join their team. Working 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday - Friday, plus 1 weekend on call (call out pay rate applied).
Purpose of the role:
To be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance of the facilities within the scope of the mechanical discipline. Assist with the completion of Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Schedules and the development of forward plans to improve the reliability of critical assets.
To assist the Mechanical Supervisor in the execution of his daily tasks and step up to provide absence cover for aspects of the Mechanical Supervisor's role.
Technical:
1. Execute the mechanical maintenance tasks as required, including both planned and emergent work.
2. Tasks will include but are not limited to, installation of pipework and fittings, installation of screwed and bolted joints, installation and alignment of rotating machinery (pumps, agitators etc.), condition-based monitoring, pump and valve overhauls/repairs.
3. Identify any parts required, collating the relevant details and where appropriate, contacting the supplier for a quotation.
4. Experience of fitting glassware would be an advantage.
5. Assist in the development of Predictive and Preventative Maintenance Routines (PMR) and write appropriate routines so that others can carry out the task.
6. Contribute to Root Cause Analysis of failures both formally and more generally through discussion with others and the Maintenance Supervisor in order to improve the reliability of equipment.
7. Ensure the Mechanical section of the Workshop Tier Board is up to date, clearly identifying both planned and breakdown work, indicating the current status and who is working on the task.
8. Recommend and monitor workshop spares holding, ensuring any parts used are replenished.
9. Record all work in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (MMS) currently MP2.
10. Assist where required in the training of others on site in order to increase the skills and knowledge of the workforce in order to better execute their roles.
11. Ensure all work is carried out in a safe manner and without harm to others or the environment, in line with Company policies.
12. Provide cover for the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor during absences and at other times as required.
13. To undertake other duties as may be required.

1. To understand the MAPP - Major Accident Prevention Policy / Plan and Safety and Environment Management Systems.
2. To comply with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and arrangements.
3. Where applicable, to inspect before use, and use correctly, the plant equipment, machinery and personal protective equipment provided, and take corrective action within your competency level and report to line management any defects identified.
4. To report all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly.
5. To act in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
6. Not to use any new equipment or carry out any modification or change of process or system of work, without first ensuring that adequate assessment and authorisation has been carried out through the Management of Change procedure.
7. Where appropriate, to only undertake work for which you have been appropriately trained.
8. In the event of an abnormal situation or emergency, to carry out the necessary actions to ensure your own safety and that of others, in accordance with the site Emergency Procedures, and to be available to be part of the Emergency Response Team in line with your training, specialist skills and Departmental expertise.

What are we looking for?
1. Served a recognised apprenticeship scheme or equivalent training.
2. Experience and knowledge of rotating equipment (centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals etc.).
3. Experience and knowledge of static equipment (flanges, pipework, valves, PVVs, RVs, flame arresters, etc.).
4. Knowledge of predictive techniques.
