We are seeking an experienced and proactive Production Planner to join a rapidly expanding manufacturing company based in Gloucester. This is a key role where you will optimise production schedules, streamline operations, and ensure the seamless delivery of customer orders. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you’ll work in a supportive and collaborative team environment at a state-of-the-art facility. Description As Production Planner, you will be responsible for developing and executing efficient production plans, ensuring resources are utilised effectively, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including logistics, procurement, and customer service, to meet business goals and enhance operational performance. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute production schedules to optimise resource use and ensure on-time deliveries. Collaborate with procurement and logistics to guarantee all parts are available before production. Oversee logistics operations, including transport and outbound carriage costs. Support the introduction of new products into production alongside the New Product Development team. Manage and develop the Production Administrator and any future team members. Monitor performance metrics, identify risks, and resolve bottlenecks to maintain efficiency. Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean methodologies and line balancing. Requirements To excel in this role, you will need: At least 5 years of experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing environment. Proven track record in managing production schedules, resource optimisation, and meeting delivery targets. Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams. Experience in continuous improvement practices, demand forecasting, and capacity planning. Leadership skills with experience managing and developing small teams.
