Job Description: Job Advert The opportunity: Leonardo UK Edinburgh has a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Laser Engineer, wishing to join a pioneering High - Power Fibre Laser T eam. This exciting role will support the design and development of the latest High-Power Fiber Laser S ystem s for current and next generation defen c e applications. This role will include tasks such as laser modelling, optical fibre processing, optical experiment design, problem solving, supplier engagement and system verification. Leading multidisciplinary teams in developing methodolog ies for assembly and verification of the laser system. Engaging with other disciplines, such as mechanical and systems engineers, to progress design s through technical maturation. Engaging with procurement and supplier quality issues. What we need from you: You really must have: Experience working in high power fibre laser product development. Experience in the design, characterisation and manufacture of lasers using appropriate commercial tools. An advanced understanding of laser physics and a detailed understanding of fibre laser engineering. An appreciation of the mechanical, electrical and safety design aspects of laser systems. Experience working in a laser research and development or manufacturing environment. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and engagement within the wider optical supply chain. Strong analytical, modelling and laboratory skills, including optomechanical assembly and coding-for-experiment. M.Sc. or Doctoral Qualification in a Photonic related subject.
