Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Construction Solicitor to join a leading law firm in Newcastle. The role offers a mix of both contentious and non-contentious construction work, giving you the chance to engage with a wide range of clients and projects within the construction and infrastructure sectors. The role would suit a Construction Solicitor with 2-6 years' post qualifying experience gained solely within construction. The firm are also open to CVs from candidates with some construction experience who are looking to specialise.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advising on construction disputes including adjudication, arbitration, and litigation.
2. Managing pre-action and dispute resolution processes such as negotiation and mediation.
3. Drafting and reviewing pleadings, witness statements, and expert reports.
4. Providing strategic legal advice to clients in relation to disputes arising out of construction contracts.
5. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts and appointments.
6. Advising on procurement routes, contract administration, and project delivery methods.
7. Assisting clients with risk management and project advisory work throughout the life cycle of construction projects.
Requirements:
1. 2-6 years PQE in construction law, with experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters.
2. Candidates with some but limited construction experience who are looking to specialise.
3. Strong understanding of construction contracts, dispute resolution procedures, and sector-specific legislation.
4. Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
5. Ability to manage a varied caseload and work to deadlines.
6. A client-focused approach with a commercial mindset.
